What is a guide bushing?

The guide bushing is a part installed on the mold to ensure that the moving parts of the mold (upper die, lower die, slide, etc.) can move accurately according to the predetermined trajectory. Their main role is to guide and position, to ensure that the mold in the process of closing, opening, ejecting and other actions to maintain accurate alignment and stable movement, so as to ensure the molding accuracy and quality of the product.

The core role of mold guide parts:
1. Guidance and positioning: Ensure that the moving parts of the mold move along the correct trajectory during the opening and closing process to avoid deviation or dislocation.
2. Reduce wear: Through accurate guidance, reduce the friction and wear between the moving parts of the mold, extend the life of the mold.
3. Improve accuracy: Ensure the accuracy of the mold and ensure the consistency of product size and shape.
4. Enhance stability: In the high-speed or high-load molding process, the guide can provide stable support to prevent mold vibration or deformation.

Common mold guide types:
1. Guide post and guide sleeve:
Guide post: Cylindrical part, usually fixed to one side of the die.
Guide sleeve: A sleeve fitted with a guide post, usually mounted on the opposite side of the mold.
Function: The guide post is matched with the guide sleeve to ensure the accurate alignment of the upper die and the lower die when the die is closed.
2. Slider guide:
Used to guide the slider in the mold in a specific direction, usually used in molds with lateral core-pulling or complex structures.
3. Thimble guide:
It is used to guide the movement of the thimble or ejector mechanism to ensure smooth and accurate ejector action to avoid deformation or damage to the product.
4. Diagonal guide post:
Used to drive the slider for lateral movement, usually used in conjunction with the slider guide, suitable for lateral parting molds.
5. Guide block:
For large molds or molds with special structures, providing more stable guidance and support.

Material of mold guide:
Mold guide parts usually need to have high hardness, high wear resistance and good impact resistance, commonly used materials include:
High carbon steel: such as SUJ2 (bearing steel), with high hardness and wear resistance.
Alloy steel: such as Cr12MoV, with high strength and wear resistance.
Surface treatment: In order to improve wear resistance and service life, the guide surface is usually heat treated or coated.

Application of mold guide:
Mold guides are widely used in a variety of molds, including:
Injection mold: used for the molding of plastic products.
Stamping die: Used for stamping sheet metal.
Die casting mold: used for forming metal die casting parts.
Rubber mold: used for forming rubber products.

Development trend of mold guide parts:
1. High precision: With the improvement of product accuracy requirements, the manufacturing accuracy and matching accuracy of guide parts are also constantly improving.
2. Wear resistance improvement: Improve the wear resistance and service life of guide parts through new materials and new processes (such as surface coating technology).
3. Standardization and modularization: the standardized design of guide parts helps to shorten the mold manufacturing cycle and reduce costs.
4. Intelligent monitoring: In high-end molds, guides may be integrated with sensors for real-time monitoring of mold motion and wear.
